VOLUNTEERING AT RPAC

Volunteers are an important part of the RPAC community. Whether you are completing your Theatre Academy family commitment, helping with a MainStage production, or simply looking for a way to support RPAC, there are many opportunities to contribute throughout the semester.

Theatre Academy Volunteers

Each RPAC Theatre Academy family is expected to contribute 10 volunteer hours per semester.
This is 10 total hours per family, not 10 hours per student or production. A family with three students participating in three different shows is still responsible for only 10 total hours.
Although 10 hours may sound like a lot at first, it is generally easy to complete when spread throughout the semester. Families may fulfill their hours by volunteering for their student’s Theatre Academy production or through any other RPAC volunteer opportunity. This flexibility allows families to select opportunities that work best with their schedules, interests, and abilities. Any friend or family member 16 years or older may volunteer.

Theatre Academy production opportunities may include:
•Green-room supervision
•Backstage security
•Lunch or dinner cleanup during tech week and performances
•Cleaning green rooms and backstage restrooms
•Front-of-house assistance
•Snack bar, ushering, or ticket scanning
•Folding and stapling programs
•Stocking concessions and supplies
Please note: For student safety, backstage and green-room positions are limited to parents, legal guardians, and grandparents.
Additional opportunities may be available earlier in the semester, including hanging posters around town, selling program advertisements to local businesses, and assisting with costumes, sets, scenery, or props. Specific opportunities will be posted in your class’s BAND app.
Please note that Theatre Academy volunteers may not always be able to watch the performance from inside the theatre. A monitor will be available in the lobby, but volunteers may be asked to clean restrooms, stock the snack bar, pop popcorn, clean the lobby, or maintain overflow green-room and restroom areas during the performance.

We have tried to make it easy to fulfill your family volunteer commitment, but for those families that would prefer to buyout their volunteer hours that is also an option.

Please contact Mr. Chris chris@reddingpac.com with any questions, to buyout your hours, or to request a hardship waiver.
